The travel time feature on the Marketplace Map helps you assess the feasibility of material movements by showing journey times from any location. This is essential for planning cost-effective haulage and ensuring materials can be delivered or collected within your project timelines.

What is the travel time feature?

Travel time displays the estimated journey duration from a location you specify shown on the map. This helps you:

  • Identify the closest material sources or destinations

  • Assess whether haulage is economically viable

  • Plan collection or delivery schedules

  • Compare multiple options based on accessibility

How to use travel time

  1. Open the Map from your dashboard or Materials Exchange

  2. Find the travel time tool which is located on the toolbar that sits on the map

  3. Select a listing location from the map to show the travel time around that location

  4. You can then select the haulage route option between two (or more) location pins, enabling with or without traffic to reflect realistic travel times.

Tips for planning logistics

  • Compare multiple sources to balance material cost against haulage expense

  • Check peak times - remember that travel times can vary significantly during rush hour

  • Factor in vehicle restrictions when planning routes for HGVs or specialist transport

Are travel times based on real traffic conditions?

Yes. Travel times reflect current road conditions and update in real time.

Can I see the actual route?

The map shows journey duration rather than turn-by-turn directions. For detailed route planning, use the location information to plan routes in your preferred navigation tool.

Does this account for HGV restrictions?

Travel times are based on standard driving routes. Always verify that your planned route is suitable for the vehicles you'll be using, especially for bulk material movements.
